To understand which articles are useful, we run our own analytics on our own server — no Google, no third parties, and no data ever leaves our systems. It uses no cookies. For each page view we record the page address and the referring website, and we generate a temporary, anonymous visitor tag by one-way hashing your IP address together with a secret that we rotate every day. We do not store your IP address, and the tag cannot be reversed to identify you or linked to you across days. It exists only to estimate how many separate people read a page. All reporting is aggregate.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address so we can send you updates. We do not share it, and you can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
Some links are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Those retailers set their own cookies and privacy policies once you leave our site — see our affiliate disclosure for details.
